Back To School: Meinhardt Wins Australian International School Project In Jakarta
Meinhardt Australia has been appointed to the design team for a new Junior School on the Australian International School’s (AIS) Pejaten Barat campus in Jakarta.
Working with architects FJMT, we will provide Hydraulics, Electrical and Communications, Mechanical, Fire Services (Wet and Dry), Security and Lifts Engineering, as well as ESD consultancy services. Our Indonesian office will ensure compliance with local design codes and delivery to local building standards.
The AIS mission is “to inspire our students and our local community to strive for excellence, sustainability and inclusiveness.”
The aim will be to utilise sustainable technologies in a visible way that allows teachers to integrate them as teaching tools for students. It is also the intention for the development to act as a model of affordable sustainable architecture on both a local and national level within Indonesia, while dramatically minimising energy consumption and their carbon footprint.
Four buildings connected by courtyard spaces will provide 16,000sqm of classrooms supplemented by sports and social facilities, including a 25m 8-lane swimming pool, drama facilities, indoor multi-court, grassed tennis courts and a cafeteria.
Completion is scheduled for August, 2016.
